Road to SuperCon Locations

The Road to SuperCon Series is a new addition to the SuperCon event. For those who want to earn a seeding at the national championship, come compete in any regional qualifier that takes place in your nearest NVGA chapter or designated regional location. All are welcome to compete at the SuperCon itself for a chance to compete for the national title. Below is a list of locations to qualify and a list of all the regulations for the Road to SuperCon:

Road to SuperCon Regulations:

  • For an event to considered a regional qualifier it must have AT LEAST 16+ people participate. Also ONLY A CHAPTER LEADER OF THE NVGA or DIRECT PERMISSION FROM GREGORY RICHARDSON co-founder of the NVGA can certify an event as a SuperCon regional qualifier

  • Top 4 placers from each qualifier tournament earn a seeding at the NVGA Championships. Your overall seeding in your specific game will be based on the size of the qualifying tournament.

Example: Regional A with Smash Bros. Brawl might have 40 entrants while Regional B with Smash might have 100 people. Since regional B had more attendees regional A the qualifiers from regional B will have a higher seeding then regional A

  • Events for qualifications will occur ONLY IN EVENTS DESIGNATED BY THE NVGA i.e. chapters and sponsor locations

  • All Road to SuperCon qualifiers will use the NVGA rule set with payouts of 1st, 2nd and 3rd depending on the amount of participants and the chapter rules. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for the Road to SuperCon series here:

$150 stipend will be rewarded to the 1st place winner(s) of each qualifying tournament designated at a chapter or sponsor event. This $150 goes to both single player games and teams. Teams will be reward $150 together meaning that each teammate would be rewarded $75 each. This applies to both LAN and online regionals. This $150 stipend will be rewarded to all 1st place qualifiers who attend SuperCon 2010 AND compete in their first round match of the NVGA SuperCon championships in the game that they qualified for. All payments will be given out in the form of checks. If a 1st place qualifier DOES NOT attend and compete in the game that they qualified for in the gaming championships then that $150 stipend will be placed in the tournament pot associated with that specific regional qualifier game. Competitors that attend SuperCon will compete for that pot money.

Example 1: Player C qualifies 1st in BlazBlue. They decide that they cannot attend the championship. The pot for BlazBlue at the championship is $1000. Since Player C cannot attend the championships that $150 is applied to the pot for BlazBlue at the championship thus the pot would now add up to $1150

  • PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO COMPETE IN A QUALIFIER IN YOUR GAME IF YOU HAVE ALREADY QUALIFIED IN ANY GAME. ALL REGIONAL QUALIFIERS WILL HAVE A LIST OF NAMES AND PICTURES OF ALL QUALIFIERS.

Example: Player A qualified for Tekken 6 in regional A. Player A tries to qualifier for Tekken 6 or another game in regional B. Player A will not be able to compete in that qualifier because they have already qualified in a specific game.

  • All 1st place qualifiers will have personal information collected during the regional qualifier. 1st place qualifiers will be required to show a photo id and license to prove their identity to claim their $150 stipend at the gaming championships

  • Once all qualifiers are finished seeding positions from each regional will be based on the size of the qualifier.

Example: Regional Qualifier A for Smash Bros. Brawl has 100 people participate while regional qualifier B for Smash Bros. Brawl had 150 people participate. Since regional qualifier B had more people participate in the Smash Bros. Brawl qualifier then regional qualifier A the top 4 qualifiers from B will have a high seeding at SuperCon. Thus the top four from regional B would be seeded 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th while the top four qualifiers from regional A would be seeded 4th, 5th, and 6th, 7th. Thus it's very important for regionals to have good attendance to insure that the top four from your regional get the top spot. Make sure you support your NVGA chapter regionals.
